Scratching on the Walls of Cyberspace
"The Pointless, Personal Website of Scott Meyers"
Welcome to my personal playground located on a nice plateau in the vast wilds of the World Wide Web. The view here various with the weather (and my motivation), and the walking paths tend to change unexpectedly at various random times.
What's the purpose of this place?
Interesting question! Glad I asked.
Mostly, I made this to toy around with all this geeky web stuff; to play with HTML, CSS, PHP, Perl, Ruby, MySQL, and such other stuff; to keep my skills fresh and maybe try a few interesting things. I mean book smarts is one thing, but it's meaningless until you get your hands dirty, and this is my sandbox (well my public one).
Then again, when one creates a place (any place) devoted to or about themselves then there is likely a shred of vanity involved too. I could act as if I don't care, but really at least in some secret place I hope someone find this (and thus me) interesting. I mean I could accomplish the main goal without ever mentioning myself, so yes I suppose vanity too.
Expression. I suppose this could be an extension of vanity, but sometime I just want to say something, show something, do something, and put it out there. This is a place where I can show off my latest photograph, highlight a bit of web mastery I'm working on, or shout out how I feel about this or that from a purely personal point of view at will. I suppose it's comforting to have that ability.
Ok, so umm, what's here anyway?
Who knows what's here at any given time? This sight could stay the same, without change for months, and then over a couple of days change entirely. I make no guarantees about what's here other then what you see and what you find here, and that could be gone tomorrow. It's just the nature of this particular place (and the web in general) it has the capability but not the will for permanence.
Why are you here anyway?
That's a question for you, not one of those self centered leading questions I've been asking myself. I'm sure there's some way to contact me around here somewhere (if not that's one of things I may be working on) so let me know. I do hope you find whatever it is you are looking for
Cheers - Scott.
